Holes are portals. Desertscapes in European capitals, hidden in plain site, 10 foot from the busy street and 6 feet under. The perfect place to enact a working, a space in flux, once home for the restful dead, soon to be shiny glass and steel for the “living”.

But for a brief moment it’s a hole, a grand void in which art blooms and withers.

A small band of comrades, sparks for future creative fire. The heat in the pit is intense, the works are too. Planted, left to grow beneath the new build, blessing and curse, let loose.

“Here’s to it, and from it, and to it again,
